We Care about the Environment and the World around us

The Schweighofer Private Foundation actively supports existing charity projects. At t he same time, we have taken our own environmental and social initiatives (see also press and news section).

In Romania, we focus on the regions in which the Schweighofer Group is represented through its forestry-based operations, as we appreciate personal relationships and local contacts. We support the renovation of hospitals, the provision of mobile care services for the elderly in cooperation with Caritas, and we engage in relief operations in the event of natural and other disasters. We have also financed the construction of kindergardens and playgrounds.

In 2010, the Schweighofer Private Foundation decided to join forces with other Austrian foundations for the purpose of its activities in Austria. This allows us to implement charity projects even more efficiently.

In 2002, the Schweighofer family initiated the Schweighofer Prize as an award donated by the Group in recognition of innovative projects of the forest-based industry from all over Europe. Through this prize, we intend to strengthen the competitiveness of the European wood industry – with a special focus on environmental protection and sustainability.

Moreover, the Foundation supports the “ Best Buddy” program in Austria.
